Cardiac Rehabilitation

St. Joseph’s has a
comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation program in both the inpatient and outpatient
settings. The program is nationally certified through the American Association
of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and was recently awarded "Best
Cardiac Rehab" in the state.
Featuring nurses who are solely dedicated to inpatient cardiac rehabilitation, St. Joseph's program includes
early ambulation and education that is customized to meet the needs of each
patient. Patients are encouraged to continue their rehabilitation via St. Joseph's Phase II outpatient
program, which works in partnership with your physician to
tailor an exercise regimen and medical management plan that helps facilitate
a faster and easier recovery. Patients exercise in a nurse-supervised exercise
classroom three times a week. Conditions that qualify a patient for Phase
II cardiac rehabilitation include bypass surgery, percutaneous interventions
(such as stents), myocardial infarction and unresolved stable angina. The
Phase II program normally lasts two to three months - depending on the individual - and is usually reimbursed in all or part by insurance.
St. Joseph’s also offers a medically
supervised exercise class called "Hearts In Motion." This class is designed
for participants of all abilities and age levels. It is especially recommended
for individuals who have medical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes,
obesity and peripheral vascular disease. The class is staffed by registered
nurses and participants are charged monthly.
